Had a Payment Returned as Undeliverable?
If you have recently had a payment returned to you as undeliverable and you pay from your bank's bill pay service, go to your profile for Sussex REC and change the address. We used to accept payments at P. O. Box 346. Now all payments must be addressed to 64 County Route 639. Thank you for taking time to make this change.
Rates Increasing in 2012
As noted in both the November and December Currents, our rates are increasing effective January 1, 2012. The increase is necessary due to the increase in energy costs and our costs of operation. For all the details, check out the December Currents. As always, your cooperative strives to provide the highest possible quality at the lowest possible cost.
GenerLink and Generators
We have been inundated with requests for information about generators and the portable generator interconnection device, GenerLink. To provide easy access to the information, the following is offered.
Our standby generators provide electricity for your entire home in the event of a power outage. These generators start and stop automatically providing worry free operation. Built by Cummins-Onan, these are some of the finest generators made and will provide years of reliable service. They can be fueled by either propane or natural gas. Costs for installation start at $11,500. Grab a brochure here.
The GenerLink is an alternative to a whole house generator that simplifies the setup and operation of emergency generators. Emergency generators are portable, gasoline fueled and typically only power a portion of the home’s electric needs. In the event of an outage, the emergency generator is connected to the home and provides power until utility service is restored. The GenerLink provides the homeowner with a very safe and highly flexible interconnection. Simply plug in your generator, turn it on and your home is automatically disconnected from the grid (for safety) and you can power any load up to the capacity of your generator by using your circuit breakers.
The GenerLInk is available in 30 and 40 amp models and comes with and without whole house surge protection. The installed cost for these devices starts at $877.40 (30 amp, no surge protection) which is quite comparable to the installed cost of a hard wired transfer switch. You can get the GenerLink spec sheet here and the cord selector sheet here. You can also see the latest list of compatible generators here.
How do you know which GenerLink is right for you? The best bet is to determine the size generator you need. The cord selector sheet provides some details on what to look for in your generator. When you have the size, look for a generator to fill that need. With that in hand, you can let us know the model and make and the type of connector it has. A partial list of compatible generators is here.
Important note: If you already have whole house surge protection at the meter, you cannot use that with a GenerLink. The added length of the two devices together impacts the electrical connection creating an unsafe condition.
