Reliability and Quality of Service Project

Tree Trimming 2011

Sussex Rural Electric Cooperative continually strives to provide the highest level of service quality. This service level is defined by minimal interruptions and blinks, proper voltage and overall reliability. Trees are the single largest “culprits” when it comes to service interruptions. As a result, we are continuously trimming the right of ways to keep tree limbs out of our lines.

We have a contract with Asphlund to trim our right of ways in 2011. During the course of the year, they will be trimming the entire Wantage area.

This work will benefit you with fewer interruptions, blinks and will improve your overall quality of service.

We will update this notice as our trimming areas change.

WARNINGS OF SCAMS

At the Organization meeting of the Wantage Governing Body, Sussex County Clerk Jeff Parrott warned citizens about several on-going scams being pursued throughout the county. Senior citizens are particularly asked to take notice and warning of these scams, as quite often it is the elderly who are targeted.

One scam involves receiving a telephone call from someone who will try to convince you that it is necessary for you to have a certified copy of the deed of ownership for your property, and will offer to provide you with that document for a fee which could be $25 or more. Do not be fooled by this scam! If you do ever need to obtain a certified copy of your deed, you can obtain one at any time directly from the County Clerk's office, whenever you need one, and the average fee is in the range of $16 or less.

Another attempted Scam involves a telephone contact from a person claiming to be from an agency dealing with Medicaid or Medicare, and they will ask you to confirm information over the telephone. They will read you a fictional social security number, in the hope that you will realize it is wrong and provide them with the correct information. Social security numbers can be used to perpetrate Identify Fraud against you! Several other variations on this Scam can be attempted, but they all involve an effort to trick you into telling them private information that they, in turn, can use against you. Never tell someone your social security number or any other private information over the telephone!

Volunteers Needed:
Court Appointed Special Advocates

Every day in the United States, 2482 children are subjected to abuse or neglect by their parents. Many of these children are removed from their homes and placed in temporary homes, sometimes with complete strangers.

Each of these children is  desperately in need of a Court Appointed Special Advocate.  The CASA program recruits, trains and supervises volunteers—caring community members—to advocate for services in the best interest of their CASA children, to be their voices, to give them HOPE.  Volunteering as a CASA is indeed special because each volunteer focuses on one case at a time and commits to staying with the case until permanency is reached.  In 2007, over 150 volunteers advocated for 290 children from Morris and Sussex Counties.

There are more precious children waiting for YOU. How can YOU help? What can YOU do to make a difference in the life of a child?

To learn more about Court Appointed Special Advocates call the CASA office at 973-998-7590 or visit our web site: www.casamsc.org
